The Zimbra Drag and Drop Zimlet allows users of Zimbra Collaboration Suite to drag files directly from the desktop to the Mail Composer.
Supported on Mac OS X: Safari
(The xpi plugin is no longer needed as using HTML5 in modern browsers, just the Zimlet itself.)

Earlier reviews were for Firefox XPI plugin which worked for older versions of Firefox and was also Firefox-only. But, this current version for ZCS 6.x is an actual-Zimlet and is based on HTML5 technology. It works natively as long as the browsers support HTML5.

This zimlet seems to have stopped working with Firefox 7. When you drag a picture or PDF etc into the e-mail, it just has the arrows spinning and never finished. There ia also an error: "Error uploading file" which doesn;t describe anything. Any suggestions would be helpful since this is a great and useful zimlet.

Otel Consulting has developed a fix for firefox 7 for drag and drop zimlet for Zimbra 6.x systems. Have not tested it under Zimbra 7.Corrects the following issues:

java.io.FileNotFoundException: zimlet description not found: com_zimbra_dnd.xml
undefined file description after upload
"Critical - Error uploading file" dialog appears and the "Attaching files" line sort of sits there and spins
More info and instructions can be found here.Zimbra 6 Drag and Drop – Firefox 7 Compatible Fix | Otel Consulting Blog

I am using ver 7 of ZD and cannot get this zimlet to install, anyone know when this is planned? When I drag and drop an attachment it sets up a URL redirection to the location on my hard drive which is not going to work

This is a very good add on. Should be a standard feature. Without this, you'll need to browse and select individual file to upload. imagine if you want to attach 10-20 small files. It cuts down on the number of steps from 3 to 1 to attach one file. for multiple files the effect is enormous.

We have ZSC 6.0.10 installed on Ubuntu. We install Zimlet d'n'd, but with russian name of files work with errors. When I trie to attach some file (russian name) in Zimbra, I see the "abracadabra". With files (eglish name) there is no problems!Help! How to fix zimlet to work with russian language??

Hey all,Had a horrible time getting this working and wanted to share my workaround so others can benefit. You'll need to open up dnd.js in a text editor and search for "firefox3_6up" (without the quotes). Replace it with "firefox3up". Then follow Silverbait's instructions. Tested and working in FF and Chrome.I gave this zimlet a low rating because of the work needed to actually get it working. Once it's working, it's excellent. silverbait said:To corrext the problem simply extarct the zip and rezip the files without the sub folder like thiscom_zimbra_dnd.zip | |------->com_zimbra_dnd.xml |------->config_template.xml |------->dnd.jsDeploy using the ui and Voila!

The zimlet doesn't work anymore with the new Firefox 3.6.3.Any suggestions? Thanks

First of all thank you for this great zimlet...The problem is that the files in the zip are in a subfolder like thiscom_zimbra_dnd.zip | |--->com_zimbra_dnd | |------->com_zimbra_dnd.xml |------->config_template.xml |------->dnd.js To corrext the problem simply extarct the zip and rezip the files without the sub folder like thiscom_zimbra_dnd.zip |
|------->dnd.jsDeploy using the ui and Voila!

The Zimbra Drag and Drop Firefox extension allows users of Zimbra Collaboration Suite to drag files directly from the desktop to the Mail Compose and Briefcase windows. This works for Windows and Mac computers. The "com_zimbra_dnd.zip" Zimlet must be installed on the ZCS Server. The Zimlet file ships with ZCS and can be found in:
/opt/zimbra/zimlets-extra XPI is no longer needed as using HTML5 see http://gallery.zimbra.com/type/zimlet/zimbra-drag-and-drop
